Melissa Geiss, RYT 200 is a yoga teacher who has undergone 200+ hours of teacher training influenced by the Ashtanga and Anusara styles. Her mission is to help others discover the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga, meditation, and pranayama (breathing) using techniques inspired by Ancient Indian traditions while firmly establishing safety and mindfulness.
Melissa compares yoga to a gift-wrapped present, a present that has given her a sense of well-being, confidence, openheartedness, and patience that she can unwrap each time she practices. She teaches yoga in order to give this transformational present to others.
Melissa completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training through Balance Yoga Wellness + Ayurveda in May 2016 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Tulane University. Melissa thanks her parents, John and Yulita, her teachers Jessica and Mikhayla, her supportive friends, and most of all her aunt, Nicole who in 2008 first passed on the present of yoga to Melissa in New York where she’s from.
