Melko Rasica (Sannyasi Garuda) was born in Zagreb, Croatia, and has since early childhood been interested in the deeper questions about the nature of the world and human existence. To understand these mysteries he engaged in much formal study and later also practiced Chinese martial arts and health exercises (Chi Gong).
After discovering Yoga in 1997 he took formal courses of study at renowned insitutions in India: the Bihar School of Yoga (certificate course 2005/2006) and the Kaivalyadhama Institute (certificate course 2010). He also finished the teacher training course at the Kripalu center, Massachusetts, in 2008. In addition, Melko spent periods ranging from five weeks to five months in Yoga ashrams and Christian monasteries, among others on Mount Athos. He regularly follows courses, workshops, and seminars on Yoga, Vedanta, and Ayurveda.
