Meredith discovered her yoga practice in early 2007 at the Yoga Room in Beijing, China. A competitive athlete since early youth, she first approached yoga almost exclusively on the physical level (“it seems like a good stretch”); however, she came a regular, devoted practitioner after quickly realizing the emotional and mental respite it offered from Beijing’s hectic, urban pace.
After moving to Hong Kong in 2013, Meredith began practicing with the wonderful teachers of the Yoga Room, a boutique studio in Sheung Wan District. Under the instruction of Manila-Ji, it was there that she became devoted to Ashtanga Vinyasa; for her, the traditional practice served as a type of dynamic meditation capable of silencing all but the present.
In September 2015, Meredith quit her full-time corporate consulting job and moved to Yangshuo County, Guangxi Province, to devote herself to two passions: rock climbing and yoga. In February 2016, she received her Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga 200-hour RYT certificate from Ajarya Yoga Academy in Rishikesh, India, under Karamjit Ji and Narender Ji. She founded Yangshuo Yoga and began teaching donation-based community classes in Yangshuo, Guangxi Province, almost immediately after graduation.
Meredith is currently based in Beijing City and is honored to return to the Yoga Yard as an instructor. She is additionally teaching a variety of private group classes.
Meredith’s classes are intensely physical and internally focused; she melds alignment, Ashtanga, and pranayama to facilitate a creative, mindful practice that celebrates playfulness and the joy of movement, both physical and spiritual.
