I’m an accredited teacher based in Perth, Western Australia. I completed my yoga teacher training at Perth’s The Yoga Space, where I studied under teachers Dr Jean Byrne and Rob Schutze. Both are authorised by Sri. K Pattabhi Jois and regularly travel to Mysore, India, to continue their yogic studies. I’m currently registered with Yoga Australia (+750 hours) and teach in the Western Suburbs of Perth.
I first started dabbling in yoga as a teenager. I’ve always been interested in history and world religion and one day found a yoga book in my local library. Like so many others, I started practicing more regularly when I joined a local gym while at University. I was incredibly lucky to be blessed by an amazing teacher who taught a mix of Vinyasa and Iyengar yoga.
I loved the way yoga helped me manage a back injury and the way I felt after class. Soon I was beginning to delve deeper into my own practice and the other limbs of yoga. I finally took the plunge and did my yoga teacher training.
I’m a firm believer that yoga is for everybody and that everyone can benefit from the practice. I still remember how nervous I was when I first walked into the yoga studio. I wasn’t particularly flexible and I wasn’t sure I would fit in, but I quickly learnt that yoga is a personal journey and that it didn’t matter how flexible I was. All that mattered was that I showed up and practiced to my ability.
