I am the owner, resident yoga teacher and massage therapist at The Ochre Hideaway. I am passionate about life, yoga, juicing, bodywork, natural building and living a life as close to nature as possible. I have been a yoga practitioner since 1997 and working as a yoga teacher and massage therapist since 2002.
My former life between graduating University and becoming a yoga teacher was spent working as a Personal Assistant and Events Organiser within a corporate environment. I know what it feels like to work in a high pressure environment, long hours staring at the computer and the impact this has on both body and mind. It was during this time I discovered my love of massage, and my love of yoga deepened to the point where I wanted to live both more fully so I resigned from my job to follow my heart and haven’t looked back since.
The foundation for my yoga practice, teaching, and life is the Dynamic Yoga Method, as developed by Godfrey Devereux, under whom I completed my second Teacher Training in 2003. I taught yoga in London full-time for 4 years but felt the need to go deeper so left my life as I knew it to live as part of the Windfire Yoga community during two 6-month periods as a Yoga Apprentice. I have also participated in Vipassana and other silent meditation retreats.
I first dipped my feet into the world of massage in 2000 on an Indian Head Massage course and the following year went on to train in Therapeutic Massage and Holistic Clinical Aromatherapy with the Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy in London. I then completed further training in No-Hands Massage and Reiki. Since 2002 I have worked in diverse environments including businesses, spas, complimentary health centres, yoga retreats and privately, in the UK, Australia and Portugal.
After all this journeying internally and externally I moved to Portugal in 2008 to put down some roots in these beautiful hills and valleys and have since been blessed to become a mother.
