Yoga is my passion. Formerly asthmatic, I came to yoga to learn how to re-connect with my breath. I had no idea that I would become a yoga teacher, and leave my career in the corporate world. I not only "found" my breath, I learned to trust my inner voice, be in my body and to be present in the moment. That's not to say it's easy. It's a constant practice. It humbles me every day! Sometimes I am completely tuned in and I feel vibrantly alive and when I'm not I accept that I am exactly where I need to be. I am patient. I keep my sense of humor and I ride the wave. I breathe. I observe. I wait. I learn and I evolve.
I believe that what you do, say and think lives in your body. The patterns you create each time you think, move or act without awareness also become a part of your biology. These are the places where your energy becomes stuck – resulting in injuries both physically, emotionally and spiritually. The asana I practice in yoga helps me strip away the layers. It helps me to celebrate being in my body. I feel radiantly alive when I can feel my breath, and it's fun!
I teach in a way that uses the breath and physical movement to move energy out of your stuck spots to create freedom, strength, and a connection to spirit. I invite you to take the journey with me - move with breath, awareness, and compassion - playfully challenge yourself as you move to your edge – tap into your inner pulsation and ride your wave!
I also use Dance as another way to free my mind, body and spirit. Once a month I lead a Dance to Freedom class at Fresh. It is a low-pressure dance party with a soulful diverse soundtrack. No experience necessary. You'll hear anything from sacred Kirtan chanting to hip-hop, tribal percussive beats and more. I completed the Trance Dance Teacher Training with Shiva Rea. I have studied with Gabrielle Roth and I am inspired by her teachings of the 5 Rhythms.
