I graduated from Zenya Yoga Academy in Newport News in April of 2013 with my 200-hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher Certification with Yoga Alliance). I have been been teaching yoga since May 2013.
After running track in high school and continuing on for several decades thereafter, I found that my maturing body yearned for a kinder and gentler physical workout program. For the past seven years I have participated in yoga and found that it not only filled my body’s need for exercise but opened in me an awareness that body, mind and spirit are interlocked. I believe that each class belongs to the participant and I cultivate an atmosphere where each individual is challenged, yet comfortable in their pose. I retired from NASA after a career in Government procurement and training. I am in my sixth year working as a volunteer at the Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic assisting patients in securing medical care. I am a wife and mother and currently reside in Gloucester with my husband and puppies; a pug and a mauser.

highly recommend

Having not done yoga for a few decades, I was a tad apprehensive about taking a class. I engaged Nancy for a few private lessons, and she was exactly what I sought...a kind and patient spirit, encouraging, and eager to learn more herself. Her approach is gentle and spiritual. Her energy is consistently centered and tranquil. After three lessons at home, I felt ready for a practice session, which, thankfully, she offers on Saturdays nearby, If you want someone quick-paced with a power approach, Nancy is not for you. If you want someone to coach you and calm you, she is the one. I recommend her without hesitation.
