Nani's yoga journey began in Denver, Colorado, with CorePower Yoga. An avid student since 2004, Nani felt a passion to spread the joy and enlightenment she gained from her practice to others. Trained and certified by the original CorePower founders, Dave Porter and Alanna Kaivalya in Power Yoga, Nani was fortunate to receive Advanced Power Yoga TT certification from Dave and Alanna in Pahoa, Hawaii in 2006. She has since earned additional certifications in Hot Yoga, Hot Power Fusion, and Sculpt Yoga.
Nani’s teaching is influenced and inspired by great teachers such as Rolf Gates, Darren Main and Baron Baptiste to name just a few. There is so much to learn about yoga and there are nuggets of knowledge in every class, regardless of instructor. Nani worked for CorePower Yoga in the Denver metro area for four years. She not only taught yoga but also worked in the Graphic Design department and was a Retail Manager for several CorePower studios in the Denver area.
In 2009, Nani left her CorePower family to pursue her own dream of studio ownership and spread her love for yoga in Austin. Her final class in Denver was packed with over 40 students with many having to be turned away, as tears, hugs and parting gifts filled the studio. Sad to leave the community that supported her as an up-and-coming teacher, but excited to bring that passion to Austin, Nani’s focus now is to help grow the burgeoning yoga community here in the Lake Travis area. As owner of Balance Yoga, Nani continues to seek out and participate in advanced training programs and bring that knowledge back to Balance Yoga.
Nani is married to Bart, her husband of 25 years and partner in life and business, and they have two amazing kids Zoe and Reid.
