I am an Authorized Level I Ashtanga Yoga instructor, and PhD student at the University of Virginia in Religious Studies. I study Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism, with a focus on meditation, yoga and the subtle body. Additionally, I work on the history of modern postural yoga.
I mostly teach yoga at the University of Virginia, which allows me the unique opportunity to blend asana practice with a consideration of yoga philosophy as it is presented in the classical yoga texts: the Vedas, Upanishads, various later works from the Indian yoga tradition, and also Tibetan yoga tradition.
I am available to teach private classes in the Charlottesville area during the academic year.
As a member of the directorate of UVa's Contemplative Sciences Center, I help lead ContamplationUVa, the student initiative that provides programming to support student life, including pop-up yoga and meditation classes, and support in navigating meal plan through the principles of Ayurveda.
