Let me begin by, when I started taking my practice seriously, and finally very slowly wanting to become a teacher of this amazing ancient system of yoga; if I may even dare.
Diving deeper into my practice, starting from Bihar school of yoga, which I will always thank for my fundamentals, I discovered Vinyasa. I did my first teacher training with Sonja Appel, who showed me the magic of vinyasa, how to command a class, make it your own and the Mysore style of ashtanga yoga system; a practice, which always keeps me humble. Only after finishing a 3-month stretch in Mysore, I can now understand the faint glimpses of what it means to have deep discipline.
Mysore Ashtanga is sometimes not suited for everyone, that’s why, I love to absorb from Hatha and Iyengar systems. I did a second teacher training with Bharat Shetty who really shows you the beauty of the basics.
Along the way I discovered being drawn to a more therapeutic approach to yoga, therefore I decided to advance my teaching and qualify myself as a Yoga therapist from the Kripalu center in Massachusetts. Diving deeper into systems of the body, yoga to treat illnesses, such as heart disease, diabetes, depression, lower back, knee pain to name a few.
Along this journey, I soon started seeking for practices beyond the asana, experimenting with movement and music therapy, like 5 rhythms, dance, and movement meditations. This led me to the Sufi Sema, which was practiced by Rumi and his followers. A physical turning of the body to devotional music and prayer.
