I bring 20 years teaching and 25 years practice to my classes workshops and retreats. I've studies a range of styles and approaches to hatha yoga.
Whilst I am respectful of the historical yoga tradition and timeless wisdom that has been handed down to us, I am equally interested in a yoga practice that is realistic and relevant in our current context. The nature of classes depends on the group, but in general I teach a slow flowing approach to the asanas (postures) and variously include pranayama (breathing practices), relaxation, centring practices and meditation.
I believe that yoga offers an amazing range of interrelated life skills that can support, restore and rejuvenate, whatever stage of life you are in.
I have taught in yoga centres, health clubs, retreat centres, at corporate events and for the NHS and Social Services. As well as my regular class, workshop and yoga holiday schedule, I also teach the history and philosophy of yoga on teacher training courses.
THAI MASSAGE
I became interested in Thai massage when I was training as a yoga teacher. My first Thai massage in Thailand was an amazing experience, powerful, yet deeply calming and centering like no other massage I had had before. Thai massage has working principles closely allied with yoga; this was clear to me from the beginning and inspired me to go on and learn the discipline. I have practiced Thai massage professionally since 1998, originally learning with Kira Balaskas and Asokananda in London. I have also studied with Ralf Marzen in London and have been to Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand three times for study programs at the Sunshine Massage School . I also spent time studying with Felicity Keebaugh in Chiang Mai who is one of Sunshine School's affiliated teachers . Thai massage has undoubtedly helped in my understanding of yoga and vice-verca.
