Nicola Simpson was born in Hawaii and lived between the States and New Zealand as a child. Brought up in a sporting household with a tennis coach Dad, from young until mid teens she was a professional swimmer and runner. After many years of running and strenuous physically demanding sports, at 16 she decided to turn to
"At the start of my yoga journey i was mainly going to practice for an amazing stretch out but then after about a year I found myself craving this time on my honouring my letting go and being able to just forget about anything that was going on in my life. It was the best thing for me to release any tension from my body and find clarity in my mind".
She has travelled and worked as an international model all around the world, starting in Asia, moving onto Europe and finally New York.
"All throughout my modelling career I found I had a yearning to make something more out of for me internally. Travelling feeds the soul for sure, but something huge was missing for me. I Was brought here for a reason I knew, so I felt that I needed to switch paths. Yoga has been my absolute passion and equally my safe place for the past ten years".
She then decided that she wanted to become a teacher so she could spread the light and energy and be a light worker. She graduated in Bali at the end of 2012 with a 300 hr Radiantly Alive vinyasa style yoga teaching certification. The same year she certified with 200 hrs Baron Baptiste power yoga and a Jivamukti weekend immersion in Woodstock New York.
"I have recently moved back home to New Zealand permanently where I made the transition from modelling internationally for ten years to now teaching yoga full time! Teaching yoga is the most satisfying and rewarding gift to have, I feel blessed to be able to teach for a living. Being a teacher (guru) and removing the gu from you is the most selfless act one can have on another. The joy that comes from teaching and being taught is pure bliss. It brings me back to my best pure me and most raw, baby state me. It brings me here and now. I hope to see you and experience the paradise within. Come join me for a yoga flow!"
