Hello! My name is Nicole Du Guay. I have dedicated myself to the practice, study and teaching of yoga since discovering its joys and transformational benefits in 2006. I discovered yoga at just the right time in my life. Not only during a time when I needed it most, helping me find relief from chronic stress, anxiety and depression, but also when I was open and ready to begin my transformational journey into the Self.
After practicing regularly for 6 years, I decided to take the next step and attend yoga teacher training. Combining my love of travel and yoga, I attended both my 200 hour and my 300 hour Yoga Alliance Accredited yoga teacher trainings in Costa Rica, where I studied with Marianne Wells Yoga School, with my 300 hour yoga teacher training being an intensive with a focus on Restorative and Health-promoting Yoga. With a background in Ashtanga, Kundalini, Iyengar, Yin and Vinyasa Flow, Marianne Wells’ teacher trainings combine elements of these styles, which I now draw from to create dynamic and inspiring alignment-based flow.
As a teacher, I am warm, lighthearted and friendly. I strive to ground my students in an continuous awareness of breath, while guiding you through poses giving clear directions, modeling, and hands-on adjustments. I am also a Usui Reiki Master Teacher and Holistic Nutritionist and believe the mind, body, spirit connection is a sacred one; one that is to be nurtured and inspired. From this perspective, I teach my classes from the heart, creating an uplifting and safe environment for students to explore and expand within their own body and consciousness using breath, playfulness, and enjoyment of the present moment. My classes range from peaceful and relaxing Yin and Restorative to energetic, sweat-inducing Power and Vinyasa Flows.
I infuse my belief that “Yoga is for every body” and use intelligently timed humor and playfulness to help encourage students to honor and embrace their amazing uniqueness and find the courage to step out of limiting beliefs to discover their truest and most authentic selves! I am gently spiritual in my approach and provide a physical workout that students of all levels can easily modify.
Yoga, Nutrition and Reiki have been and continue to be powerfully life altering for me, continually teaching me to connect, soften and shine from within. I continually draw from the blessings and lessons. I continue to learn through yoga, nutrition, meditation and energy healing as well as from my many teachers and students, to improve all areas of my life and nurture my desire to help others experience their own positive transformations. Along with my regular yoga and meditation classes, I combine my passion for yoga and travel and host annual Yoga & Health retreats in South East Asia and New Zealand.
My highest intention as a yoga teacher is to create a container, a safe and loving environment within which my students can experience deep presence, acceptance, connection and gratitude, and teach them the tools to recreate that experience for themselves.
