After years of on and off practice, I became a committed and dedicated yogi in 1998 after meeting the incredible Simon Borg Olivier of Yoga Synergy at the Newtown studio in Sydney.
The style of yoga I teach is vinyasa-krama. Each carefully constructed sequence blends exercise-physiology and specific stretches and movements, to form a safe yet dynamic flowing practice that yields great results for mind and body. I consider myself a perennial yoga student - there is always more to learn!
I have now been teaching yoga as a profession since 2003 and operate my yoga business from a gorgeous, boutique-style studio located on my property at One Mile, near the beach, at Port Stephens. I hold regular classes here as well as as various weekend workshops from time to time. We have hosted some wonderful teachers here such as Eve Grzybowski and Master Yang (Calligraphy Yoga) and look forward to hosting more.
My first 200 hour teacher training certificate was undertaken in Bali through Yoga Arts in 2001. I followed this with an Advanced Diploma of Health: Yoga Teaching in 2003. This full-time, year-long course, consisted of well over 1000 hours of training. Since 2000, I have attended at least five anatomy and physiology teacher-training intensives / courses with Simon Borg-Olivier from Synergy. In 2008, I attended a week-long teachers' intensive with the immensely knowledgeable, world-renowned teacher and author, Donna Farhi in Hobart, Tasmania. I certainly hope to be able to further my studies with Donna in the future.
