Nikyta has been teaching yoga for the last seventeen years to widely diverse populations of people ranging from everyday folks to homeless teens to celebrities to the elderly. She has certifications in Indra Devi Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Iyengar Restorative Yoga with Roger Cole, Street Yoga, and Anusara Immersions. She has taught in a variety of settings from yoga studios, destination spas, on the street, on airplanes, to out in nature. She has also taught yoga, meditation, Labyrinth facilitation and a variety of other offerings for ten years at the Golden Door Spa in San Diego. What this training translates to is a very diverse background so that Nikyta serves the needs of a wide spectrum of people. She has also lived in yogic community at the Mount Madonna Retreat Center where the scope of yoga is much wider than simply the physical poses. It is her belief that yoga should help you to be a kinder, more self aware and in tuned person, as well as strong and flexible in mind, body and spirit.
Nikyta’s teaching style is characterized by metaphoric themes that change with each class, but help anchor the practice in image and give added layers of meaning and poetry. Her students often comment on her soothing voice and vocal guidance, as well as ability to hold many diverse levels of yoga practitioners in the same class.
