Oriana Devorah Cohen grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa where she was a competitive dancer and gymnast for over ten years. She made Aliyah in 2009 and is blessed to live with her husband and two children in Jerusalem. Oriana Devorah has been practising yoga for the past twenty years and is a Yoga Alliance certified instructor (E-RYT200).
In 2006 Oriana Devorah graduated with distinction from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg with a degree in Social Work specializing in Art Therapy. In 2010 she studied yoga and ayurvedic massage whilst on a volunteertrip to India. She has always had a keen interest in healing and alternative therapies and in 2012 she completed a year-long training course in energy healing under Dr Shoshana Savyon (PhD, DHM) in Jerusalem. She currently works as a yoga teacher and healer.
Oriana Devorah draws upon her knowledge of Hatha, Bikram and Flow yoga to provide yoga classes which are creative, enjoyable, therapeutic and holistic. Oriana Devorah has taught yoga in numerous settings to varied groups of people, including children’s yoga to children at risk in an orphanage in Soweto, South Africa; pre-natal yoga to mothers-to-be in Jerusalem; and providing female, Israeli backpackers in India with an opportunity to practice yoga in a women’s-only, spiritually sound environment. She also teaches privately, at Rosh Chodesh gatherings and in various homes, seminaries and studios throughout Jerusalem.
Oriana Devorah strongly believes in the Rambam's approach, that by strengthening our physical bodies through health enhancing activities such as yoga we become more adept vehicles through which to serve the Divine Creator.
