I grew up in the East with a certain stillness that became essential to me. Later on when I discovered Yoga, I felt that I had found a system of practices, including philosophy and psychology, that fully met my needs of both self-understanding and growth, while also serving others in a shared journey towards deeper wellbeing. I have studied Yoga in America and Europe and teach Hatha within the framework of Raja Yoga, so a typical class is taught in silence, including poses (Asanas), practiced with non-harming (Ahimsa), truthfulness/honesty (Satya) and contentment (Samtosha), breathing control exercises (Pranayama), withdrawal of the senses (Pratyahara), concentration (Dharana), and other gentle practices such as visualizations that help make the Yoga class a totally cleansing, balancing and revitalizing experience.
