Yoga has awoken me to the amazing wisdom of the body and the joy of living from the heart. I want to share that with you!
My passion for yoga began in 2002 when I walked into my first yoga class. I left feeling alive, awake and knowing I discovered a gem.
By 2007 my passion for yoga led me to complete a teacher training program that was influenced by Iyengar Yoga, alignment focused and a strong emphasis on anatomy and the therapeutic aspect of yoga.
I have since completed over 1000 hrs of formal yoga training and have traveled through India, Canada, Australia and the United States exploring various disciplines of yoga, yoga therapy, meditation, yoga nidra and Ayurveda. I am grateful for the opportunity to study under the guidance and instruction of many internationally renowned teachers.
In 2008 I suffered a moderate concussion and PTSD, resulting in severe anxiety and depression. I struggled with this for over four years, traditional methods of western medicine and psychotherapy were ineffective in resolving the trauma. I then discovered iRest® Yoga Nidra. iRest is a contemporary adaptation of the ancient practice of yoga nidra, evidence based and supported by neuroscience, the practice is trauma sensitive. iRest supported me in both the physical and psychological healing of trauma, and provided me with the tools to be able to with whatever life brings my way. In 2013 I entered into the certification program and began my studies with Richard Miller PhD and CEO of the Integrative Restoration Institute. Richard is a clinical psychologist, author and world renowned scholar who has recently been named one of the top 25 meditation teachers in the world. I am now an IRI Certified iRest Teacher®. It brings me tremendous joy and satisfaction to be able to offer students the experience of this deeply transformative and healing practice.
My background in Early Childhood Education that has inspired me to take yoga and meditation into the lives of young children and youth. I have adapted the salient aspects of iRest to make it accessible for children, they love meditation at the studio. I feel I have a gift for working with children, maybe because I’m still so fond of play and such a kid myself. This has created the foundation for a yoga program benefiting children and youth of all ages. In addition to training in the fundamentals of teaching yoga to preschool children, I am a certified Yoga Ed Instructor, Grades K – 8.
I am also certified in 2nd Degree Reiki and have been practicing as an energy healer for over two decades.
All of my training, teaching and life experience has been woven into a yoga practice and teaching style that provides students with the opportunity to explore body, mind and spirit in a welcoming, supportive and playful environment.
