I've known Patwant Kaur for the best part of 20 years. She began teaching kundalini yoga at the award winning community literacy project that I ran. St Joseph's Education Program. She has also worked on two documentaries that I made. Beautiful as butterflies (2005) on the healing process of 4 formerly abused women from poor communities in Cape Town and Inside Life (2010) in which men in prison mount a production of Waiting for Godot in which she co directed the actual play.

Patwant can teach anywhere and anyone. So clear, incisive and grounded is her teaching. Whether it is a one on one class with a famous actress, a group at a beautiful Cape Town studio, at the yoga festival in France where she has taught before or working with formerly abused women, she's the teacher you will want to have. She'll stretch your core, re align your chakras and enhance your aura.

Patwant is one of those beautiful beings who is completely grounded in her spirituality and Kundalini yoga practice. I've been going to her classes for the past 3 or 4 years. We move from laughter into stillness. Patwant makes challenging kriyas doable by her encouragement, presence and how she holds space. She is a healer - so when I've hit challenging times and the kriya or meditation has really moved me, she knows when to step in and send reiki energy.
