Hats off to Paul Smith

I've gone to Paul's yoga classes for over ten years, and there are many things I appreciate about his teaching. Here are just a few: he's rock-solid reliable; he inquires about and listens to our requests for a particular focus for the class; he offers many variations of any yoga posture; he's down to earth; and finally, he's a great guy.

Yoga with Paul

I've been taking weekly classes from Paul for years. Paul is very knowledgeable about several styles of yoga and body mechanics and has loads of experience. He asks at the beginning of each class if we have special goals for that session or special preferences and he addresses those. He has helped several of us who had injuries to achieve our highest potential for movements without hurting ourselves. He is good about suggesting adaptations for special physical situations. He keeps an eye on us and tells us when we need to alter our poses to get them right. He does a good thorough warm-up literally from head to toe. We get flexibility, balance and strengthening.

Very knowledgeable about many techniques

I've been taking yoga once a week from Paul for a couple of years, and I really enjoy the mixture of techniques and styles that he brings to Hatha. He knows how to create a space that is relaxing and healing, with special touches that I haven't seen with other yoga teachers. His training in physiology is also very helpful in diagnosing students' problems and recommending custom stretches. An extra plus: for soft background music during class, he plays tracks from his superb collection of music for yoga and meditation. He is a lifelong learner and is deeply committed to sharing new knowledge with his students.

Clear, kind, skilled, and professional

I recently joined one of Paul's classes after being away from Yoga for a number of years. I had an individual session before starting the class and found it very helpful. Paul is very kind and clear in his directions, sets out next steps for each person but doesn't push, and is extremely professional and reliable. I very much appreciate his non-intrusive yet supportive style. I will be attending Paul's classes whenever I can.
