Paula started practicing yoga in the mid 70’s. She now has a committed personal yoga and meditation practice that has evolved since that time. Combining her life’s work experience in the health care field with her yoga teaching, Paula’s focus is on the healing and restorative aspects of yoga through the development of both physical and spiritual awareness. Her style of teaching encourages a quiet, gentle, reflective approach to asana. She holds the belief that yoga can be adapted to meet students needs regardless of any limitations they may be experiencing while assisting in the growth and development of each individual’s practice. Paula has been teaching yoga and leading workshops for over 25 years.
Paula is Registered Nurse and holds certifications as an ERYT (experienced registered yoga teacher) with Yoga Alliance and as a Release and Restore Yoga Instructor with Judith Lasater. She has also participated in Yoga teacher trainings in Yin Yoga with Sarah Powers and Mindfulness Yoga with Frank Jude Boccio. She has studied with Jon-Kabat Zinn and the Center for Mindfulness at UMass and is an instructor of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Pain Management Classes with the Program on Integrative Medicine at UNC Chapel Hill. Paula also is the founder and owner of Carolina Wellness Institute, LLC, an ambassador of Healthy Living Programs including wellness workshops, teacher trainings and instruction in yoga and meditation.
