Peter started meditating in 2007 with the Kwan Um School of Zen, in 2008 Peter went to live at a residential Zen center to deepen his practice of meditation. It was during this time that Peter discovered yoga. Peter first started out practicing a Kripalu vigorous asana. The emphasis on the breath, in this style of yoga, and the vigorous practice really resonated with Peter. Peter has been developing an Asana practice ever since. Peter took his 5 precepts with the Kwan Um school of Zen in 2008, his 10 precepts in 2012 and has been a Dharma teacher in training for 3 years. In 2014 Peter also completed his training with the University of Massachusetts Medical School and now meets the requirements to Facilitate Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction classes. Peter has attained (2) 200 Yoga teacher certifications. One based on many different practices which included Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hot yoga, Yin yoga, and Flow. Peter's second 200 hr. training was solely focused on the Ashtanga Vinyasa method. At the present time Peter main practice is Ashtanga vinyasa, but he loves Hot yoga and has a daily meditation practice. Peters joy in life comes from his Karma yoga, or the yoga of service, he volunteers at a local prison and also works with individuals that have suffered from a traumatic brain injury every week. Peters main goal is to bring these contemplative practice to these and other populations in the community.
