Yoga offered me a way back into health after a serious illness in my teen. Yoga has continued to inspire and nurture me throughout my life. My teaching is informed from my deep connection with the healing and nurturing aspects of Yoga.
Whilst I teach in the Iyengar tradition of hatha yoga I open retreats up to students of other traditions as my initial registration was with the International Yoga Teachers Association and later Yoga Australia. When we are students of Yoga we engage the practice to arrive into the power of our own presence. The Iyengar method makes sense within my body/mind/breath complex I think because I was still so unwell when I began to work in the discipline of this method. I was amazed at how it made me feel and how much more energy and mental clarity I had.
I undertook initial formal yoga training with the International Yoga Teachers association and completed my diploma of Yoga Teaching in 2001. I continued to work as a social worker in the Northern Territory and to teach one class a week from home until 2005 when I moved to Orange in NSW to care take a colleagues yoga school whilst she focused on her young family. I attained certification with the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association of Australia in 2005 under Senior Iyengar teacher Alan Goode and I have studied at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute in Pune under Geeta and Prashant Iyengar.
In 2013 I established a yoga school in Hervey Bay Queensland and in 2020, to provide students with affordable yoga retreat opportunities, I have opened a retreat studio in Woodgate Beach Qld. I feel the beauty and lifestyle of the region support me to surrender further into the depth of yoga. I celebrate each day the opportunity to share the wonderous art and science of yoga with the students who attend the school.
