Rachel has been practicing yoga for over 20 years and teaching for 16. Her teaching is inspired by her teachers, her students and her long practice.
In 2004 she completed the 700 hrs Aurolab Teacher Training (IYN) over 3 years with Sama Fabian. She has since studied with pioneering senior teacher Dona Holleman and presently with Orit Sen Gupta of Vijnana Yoga. Last summer she completed her Vijnana Teacher Training of 800 hours. Vijnana yoga is based in the traditions of yoga practice so it includes sitting, pranayama, asana and study of text.
Flow is an important, integral part of the practice, as is the technique of alignment and influence of the breath. Rachel encourages students to practice by feeling from the inside so that body and mind unite in skilful action. This meditative and centered practice, is both powerful and gentle to help students develop a strong body, a conscious yoga practice and a stable, focused mind. She is able to support both beginners and more experienced students to modify the practice or to offer a further challenge.

I have been attending classes with Rachel since she qualified as a teacher, travelling around different locations. I find the form of yoga Vignana that she teaches to be for me the 'perfect' integrated practice as it combines sitting/mediation, philosophy along side the asanas / postures. I appreciate her style of teaching as it is very clear with good explanations and lots of demonstrations. Rachel is very attentive and always mindful of different abilities within a class, a good balance of support and encouraging you to progress out of your own created limits!
