Rachel was turned onto yoga in 2002 at the university she was attending in Florida. After practicing asana for a couple of years she began experiencing anxiety issues and found comfort in exploring pranayama and meditation. Her deep appreciation of the power of the breath opened the flood gates and shifted her perception of reality and the power for self-healing. Anusara Yoga presented itself after working at a desk job for 2 years and a running injury and Rachel found such joy in balancing skillful physical alignment with a beautifully rich philosophy. She continued exploring the Yoga community in Orlando, Northern Virginia and Raleigh by practicing Kundalini, Iyengar and Anusara. She received her 200 hr RYT certification from the Abundant Heart Yoga School with Lila Rasa Brown in Raleigh, NC. Inspired by the philosophy that "separateness is the greatest illusion," Rachel offers Rasa Yoga to provide students with a welcoming space in which they can feel good in their bodies, and explore their authenticity with an emphasis on the power of the breath. Rachel encourages students to embrace the quirks of life and enjoy the human experience! When she is not working as an Environmental Engineer or doing yoga, Rachel enjoys spending time with her 3 year old daughter and husband outdoors, hanging out with family and friends, and playing with essential oils.
