Raquel became interested to Yoga while traveling in India in 2010. Having traveled from south to north she primarily devote herself to the Hindu culture, philosophy & traditions. She met different states, languages, people and yoga teachers practicing Yoga and collaborating in social projects, such as Sadhana Forest, working with street children doing activities, teaching gardening and how to be more independent with sustainable living - Permaculture.
Since 2010 she has traveled to India every single year and for several months in order to develop her knowledge of the culture and nature of the Hindu people.
In 2013 qualifies as a Hatha Yoga teacher by the University Yoga Vidya Gurukul in India. This school is connected to the spiritual lineage of Swami Satyananda Sarawasti - founder of Bihar School of Yoga. Following the indian tradition & living in the ashram she learned how to surrender to the guru, working in community, practicing Karma Yoga & learning the ancient philosophy & scriptures.
In London and in Lisbon she experienced other styles of Yoga as Iyengar, Scaravelli, Yin, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and Hatha Yoga Dynamic . However , what makes more sense to her is Hatha Yoga.
Later she attends the Advanced Hatha Yoga Course, in the same school in India, learning deeply the Sutras of Patanjali, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Gherand Samhita, Vedanta, new asanas, mudras, mantras, bandhas and increasing her knowledge in the practice of Pranayama and Antar Mouna.
In Portugal she also completes a specialization in Yoga Kids in the School YogaOm certified by Yoga Alliance International.
Being a mother for the first time in 2015, Raquel dedicates much of her time to explore and learn more about how to generate life with consciousness. She has been transmitting her knowledge of Yoga to several women in the mystical and transforming phase of pregnancy and postpartum period.
Teaching Hatha Yoga in London and in Canary Islands in the past, nowadays she runs classes in Lisbon. Her classes are dynamic with the aim of bringing awareness to the body, mind and spirit through asanas and concentration on breathing. She also enjoys chanting mantras as it is one of the paths to meditation and because it brings positive vibrations & helps to a steady & focus mind.
Raquel has a degree in Leisure Management & Tourism Entertainment and speaks 5 languages: Portuguese, English, French, Italian and Spanish. She worked for several years in this area around the world, specially in events and as entertainer.
Raquel continues to practice yoga from different teachers and practitioners around the world while maintaining a daily self-practice.
