Having began the yoga path nearly two decades ago, I continue to approach yoga with open-minded curiosity. I aim to encourage students to develop sensory awareness, and to trust their own physical and spiritual expression of yoga. My teaching is Influenced primarily by the inspiration of the Iyengar and Ashtanga traditions, and I seek to offer instructive yet gentle adjustments that guide students into poses with confidence. My teaching style rests on the principles of alignment, intentional breath and sequencing with neuromuscular coherence, holding space for each individual to intuit their own experience of asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breath awareness) and meditation.
Whether teaching groups or one on one, I am open to working with those who are struggling in some way, offering alternatives or sequences more suited to them, essentially creating a personalized practice for each individual as needed.
I am a certified Yoga Teacher and a Registered Naturotherapist in Yoga Therapeutics, completing an Essential Teacher Training (2008), and an Advanced + Therapeutics Teacher Training (2015) with Hart Lazer. Since 2009 I have had the joy and blessing of studying in yearly workshops with Ramanand Patel. And currently, I teach at various studios and assist Hart Lazer's teacher trainings internationally.
My meditation practice started at the Shambhala Centre in Halifax, NS in 2000 and merged in 2009 with the Buddhist teachings of Ken McLeod, and I continue to study in the Mahayana tradition with Sonia Osorio and Hart Lazer, and more recently, I have begun to weave elements of Zen teachings into my practice.
