Rebecca Thurmond E-RYT 500
I’ve been naturally drawn to a ‘yoga’ practice all my life, although I’d never heard of moving meditation. As a young adult, I used morning runs to quiet my mind, to practice being present, and to pray. My yoga practice began simply—with incorporating sun salutations into my morning routine. After practicing on my own and noticing the physical benefits, I wanted to learn more. So in 2009 I enrolled in yoga teacher training. Spending a year immersed in yoga, I discovered a love of teaching it as well. I also found it to be a way to quiet my heart, deepen my faith in Christ, and rest in the presence of God.
I’ve continued to develop as a teacher, completing my 500-hour teacher certification and pre-natal certification. I’m also the asana and anatomy teacher for two RYS 200-hour teacher training programs.
My goal is to make yoga available to people at all levels, whether you’ve never stepped foot in a yoga class or already have an advanced practice. Beyond just focusing on alignment, muscle integration, and breath awareness, I want to help you find in the flow of poses (and, from there, daily life) the ability to be still and let go.
