To Learn, Laugh and Live are three steps on a path of growth in mind/body awareness. Rie Franklin’s first steps on this path were through Dance where she sought to cultivate moments where one feels the joy of inhabiting one’s body. With a BFA in Dance and Choreography from VCU, Rie sparked and cultivated this joy in students of all ages through a variety of dance styles. Her path broadened as she delved into mind/body practices when Master Teacher Cas Overton granted Rie permission to teach the Tai Chi 5 Elements Form; with a 500 hour yoga teacher certification from YogaWorks and as a member of the first US class to achieve a Level 3 Teachers Training Certification in the Franklin Method® (a modern mind/body practice). Rie is a NCBTMB (National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork) approved provider of continuing education for licensed massage therapists and bodywork practitioners she also offers continuing education to yoga instructors. Currently an adjunct Professor at the University of Richmond, Rie, teaches Human Kinetics and Yoga. You can also find her Franklin Method®, Yoga and Tai Chi workshops throughout Maryland, and Virginia. Through these styles Rie fosters the ability to ‘Know your Body, Empower your Practice’ , encourages students to find the joy of inhabiting one’s body and points students towards their individual path of mind/body awareness. Learn, Laugh, Live.
