Ron Minnich, in Ed., is in his tenth year of yoga studies. He studies Iyengar Yoga, a traditional style of Hatha yoga with roots that reach back to India. He has studied with many skilled instructors that travel to India regularly. He has attended workshops and conventions to further his field of knowledge. Yoga has revealed for Ron, the path by which one can manage ones everyday physical and emotional pressures and by doing so, enrich ones existence and thus manifest a healthy physical and spiritual life.
Ron’s classes have an emphasis on detail, precision and structural alignment in the performance of postures and breath control. The development of strength, mobility and stability is gained through these postures. He makes use of props, such as belts, blocks, and blankets, as aids in performing postures. The props enable students to perform poses correctly, minimizing the risk of injury or strain, and making the postures accessible to all regardless of age or body type. Through the practice of a system of postures, it aims to unite the body, mind and spirit for health and well-being. This discipline is considered a powerful tool to relieve the stresses of modern-day life which in turn can help promote total physical and spiritual well-being.
