I have always been interested in yoga. My parents had a regular home practice which I would get involved with, bringing the natural flexibility of a young child!
As studying and work took over, my yoga practice slipped and I found myself feeling old beyond my years with a tired and achy back. A story that is familiar to lots of us ‘desk jockeys.’ I slowly built up a practice, let it slip when work was stressful, but I kept coming back to the mat and reconnecting with the benefits. I have found that yoga is very much a journey, and over the years have unrolled my mat to study and practice Ashtanga, Bikram, Feldenkrais, Hatha, Power, Restorative, Scaravelli, Stand Up Paddle Board, Yin and Vinyasa yoga in South America and South East Asia.
I qualified in 2015 and like to combine my experience as a support worker in the charity sector and counselling qualification with my travels and passion for all things health and fitness to create an energising and supportive environment for students to explore yoga.
I have a particular passion for understanding how the bones, muscles and systems in the body works and share my training and experience with students so that attention can be brought into an area that may need extra care to avoid injuries or achieve a specific goal. Knowledge is power.
My techniques work well with those who;
Like spending a lot of time in the gym, who are strong but might have neglected to stretch and stregthen small stabilising muscles,
Play sports or are training for an event and want to avoid injuries, improve muscle intgration and maintain conditioning during 'off' season.
Are recovering from an injury or have a long term condition which they feel limits their mobility.
Are beginning their yoga journey, who might be a bit unsure and concerned they ‘aren’t flexible enough’ to start yoga.
Would like to make changes to improve their health and fitness levels.
