Yoga Alliance recognizes Ruth Richman as an Experienced Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500):
Ruth received her 500 hour Yoga Teacher Certification in Astanga Yoga from Beryl Bender Birch of The Hard and The Soft Astanga Yoga Institute of New York. (She has almost 1000 hours with Birch). She also has 200 hours in Hatha Yoga from Mary Beth Nehl, Yoga Loft, Willmar, Minnesota; 220 hours in Kundalini Yoga in the style of Yogi Bhajan, from Shakta Kaur, Kundalini Yoga in the Loop, Chicago, Illinois. She began her Level 2 in Kundalini Yoga at the Guru Ram Das Ashram in Espanola, NM and took a second Level 2 course in May on Prince Edward Island. AND she has 150 hours with Biff Mithoefer (Yin Yoga).
Recognizing that studying Yoga keeps her own practice alive, Ruth has studied Astanga with David Swenson (90 hours) and Lino Miele (50 hours); Yoga Therapy with Doug Keller (over 100 hours); Yoga Therapy with Glenn Black (30 hours); and has attended an assortment of workshops including Yin with Biff Mithoefer; Ashtanga with David Williams and Tim Miller; Pranayama with Sama Fabian; and Chakra therapy with Rita MacDonald, among others.
In 2015 she studied Yoga Therapy with Doug Keller and assisted Biff Mithoefer at the Villa Madonna in Rothesay, NB for Yin Yoga Teacher Training.
In 2016 she will again assist Biff with Yin TT, attend a Doug Keller workshop, spend a week ate ending classes in southern Italy, and begin a new journey - Kundalini Yoga Therapy.
Yoga Ink, was started in 2000. Yoga Ink and Ruth hold year round Yoga classes in three PEI communities and in three styles, Astanga, Kundalini and Hatha. It is a registered Yoga School, with 220 and 550 hour Yoga Teacher Training programs. In addition to weekly classes, Ruth leads Saturday morning workshops in the winter; is a gonger at regular Gong Baths; helps organize Yoga retreats in Mexico; and hosts workshops with internationally respected guest instructors. She also practices Yoga Therapy in private sessions; leads special group classes and presentations; and has volunteered Yoga Therapy work with the Parkinson’s Association.
