Salema's fascination with the brain, mind and movement started from a 'Burn out' with her own life in her thirties which forced her to address, reinvent and recreate her career and life path. Having used yoga, philosophy, meditation as a healing modality in her own recovery she wanted to share the benefit of these tools with others as a alternative medication. Since 2002 she has studied with many great Yoga teachers such as Ruth White in Karuna Yoga (a branch of Iyengar). John Stirk & Gary Carter (Scaravelli Yoga) from the Thomas Meyer school of Fascial Anatomy for Movement and Breath. Her fascination with the body then led her to Thailand to study Thai Yoga Massage and Therapy. Upon her return to the UK she attended Yoga as Therapy training at Yoga Campus with Doug Keller and Yin Yoga Training at The Life Centre Notting Hill. Then during 4 years of zigging back and forth between New York and London her studies led her to practice with Frank Mauro at Om Yoga NYC for two years, before finally moving across the street at Union Square to Jivamukti Yoga where she graduated as a teacher in 2009 and then in recent years with her teacher Marc Holzman, Elena Brower and Kia Miller in LA in her preferred practices of Anusara and Kundalini.

Salema's introduction to Coaching started when she embarked on a 11 month Coaching program with The Handel Group in New York her teacher/coach Elena Brower in 2014. This experience enabled her to make further connections and see the potential for combining eastern practices and western psychology as an extremely powerful tool for
transformation. However more importantly it helped her address her own behavior that yoga could not. This came at a critical time as she was caring for and supporting her mother though dementia and finally Alzheimers. These two experiences proved to be the catalyst in wanting to be more psychologically and scientifically informed about the underpinnings of the brain and mind in behaviour.

After attending and becoming a graduate of University of Cambridge in Coaching Psychology and then in Experimental Cognitive Psychology (focusing on Neuropsychology). She also became a member of the University of Cambridge Coaching Alumni and has coached on the Queens Young Leaders Programme. Whilst at Cambridge she undertook additional modules in the clinical applications of Mindfulness and Understanding Stress from a Neurobiological perspective.

With continuing studies at the Universities of London/BirkBeck, Birmingham and UCL in Neuroscience, Psychopathology, Neurpathology, Cognition, Genetics, Biopsychology, Evolutionary and Social Psychology, Research, AI + Robotics. She has and is currently working with and guest lecturing academically on the Neuroscience of Coaching and Well-Being at the Universities of Cambridge, BirkBeck and soon to be UCL. Her specialisms are in Stress Management and Anxiety Disorders, Life transitions and Change, Social and Professional adaptability of

Salema's specialised areas of study in Free Will, Consciousness and Movement came from the influence of Cambridge Neuroscientist Daniel Wolpert which has shaped her evolutionary approach to coaching and movement from the Board room to the Yoga importantly she believes that an evolutionary way of thinking may provide us with different coping mechanisms and alternative pathways in dealing with transition and adaptability around Social and Economic drivers such as and the diverse society we all find ourselves now living in.

She continues to share her evolving valuable academic insights and teachings though her offerings in London, New York, LA and Europe. Her work has been featured in various blogs and publications including Psychologies Magazine and Women’s Health and Fitness, teaching for The Secret Yoga Club, Lululemon at The Royal Opera House and The Royal Academy of Art in London, The Yoga Show, Mind Body Spirit Festival and has been featured on BBC Radio.

I really love practising under Salema's guidance. She puts a lot of effort & thought into her classes, and there is always variety. I feel my practice has evolved a lot under her tuition.
I feel I have learnt so much, & her blend of experience with life coaching means you have plenty to think about & practise away from the mat.
She is a lovely person & wish I could attend her classes everyday.

An inspiration

Salema is an inspirational teacher on so many levels, both to students and to other teachers. She has helped me hugely along my journey with Yoga and is still helping me now. Her practices are challenging, whilst at the same time having a softness to them too. They have a wonderfully spiritual dimension and the chanting is awesome! Salema supports her students in so many ways.

One of my favourite teachers and practices

Salema is a wonderful teacher and her classes have taken me on a fabulous yoga journey. One which I am still on. The vocal led method and frequent hands on adjustments you receive in her class just help you 'feel' and be present in the pose SO much more. I feel very blessed to have the privilege of her teachings. Long may it continue!

Inspiring and motivating teacher

I have been attending salema's classes for over 5 years and always find myself learning something new, both spiritually and also within the poses. She explains some of the more challenging postures with detailed steps and clarification and yet is her tone and timing are so motivational. What I love the most is that she knows at what stage each student is and adjusts or encourages your personal development with exceptional expertise.
