Sara Auster’s teaching focuses on the therapeutic aspects of yoga. She began practicing in 2005 after an accident left her with chronic pain from a broken back. Through sustained yoga practice she has reclaimed her body and released her mind from the limitations trauma so often inflicts. In 2009, motivated by her desire to share the physical and mental liberation she found through yoga, Sara completed her Anusara Yoga teacher training under the guidance of Zhenja La Rosa. She has studied massage therapy at The Swedish Institute in New York City and continues to study yoga therapeutics and philosophy extensively with Ellen Saltonstall and Douglas Brooks. Sara has been an assistant to Elena Brower in her public classes at Virayoga as well as her Advanced Teacher Training in 2013.

In her teaching Sara uses alignment principles to provide her students with an increased awareness of their own bodies and feel free from pain. Her thorough and precise teaching style provides an individualized experience and empowers students to transform their bodies and lives both on and off the mat. Sara is immeasurably grateful to be able to teach what she loves and for the unwavering support, guidance, inspiration and encouragement she has found in her family, friends and the yoga community.
