Satyam has a great sense of humor, artistic spirit, and a knack for keeping it simple when he teaches.

He discovered yoga during college at DePaul University, and found it to be an incredible benefit for his scoliosis (curvature of the spine) and a cure for his busy mind. He moved into the Shambhava Yoga Ashram after graduation, and has been living and teaching in the Shambhava tradition for the past 10 years.

His style of yoga places a strong emphasis maintaining the health of the spine by skillfully integrating the core. He also works to help students turn their attention to their breath and heart to calm and focus their mind.

He has a deep appreciation for clarity when teaching, and is always seeking simpler ways to communicate the complex workings of yoga, anatomy, and meditation in his trainings. For that reason, he has worked tirelessly to integrate on-screen lectures, dynamic worksheets, iPad applications, and cloud-based technology into the training itself, accelerating and simplifying the learning process. And because of his success, he was recently invited to the annual Shambhava Yoga Summit in Colorado to help other Shambhava teacher-trainers do the same.

Kind and Innovative Teacher at ShambhavaYoga Konalani!

I recently completed my 200 hr. teacher training at Shambhava Yoga Konalani in Hawaii. I found Satyam to be an excellent and very experienced teacher. He teaches with great care for his students and is always looking for new ways to help students understand a pose or concept better. He is a very intuitive and compassionate individual which makes you feel very welcomed in his classes. You can truly tell that he has dedicated his life to this path of yoga and he really embodies the practice on and off the mat. I hope to make it back to their beautiful yoga deck one day to practice with him again!
