Yoga found Shara when she needed it most; she was an entrepreneur running a real estate business in Vancouver, Canada and in need of something to help her find balance and peace amid the stress and chaos of the executive world. She was young and very successful yet spiritually unfulfilled. She needed a change. One day she decided to attend a yoga she was instantly hooked. Something inside of her awakened and the inquiry began. She fell in love with how yoga made her feel: peaceful, focused, grounded, strong, and increasingly compassionate.
Shara’s journey eventually lead her to India where she had the opportunity to live, learn, practice and breathe all that is, traditional Ashtanga yoga (8 fold path as per Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra). This was the major turning point in her life. The deep study of yoga was the key to becoming truly conscious and ever present. So now when Shara steps on the mat she knows she’s found the greatest tool to connect the body, mind and spirit.
Shara has been practicing yoga for over 12 years and enjoys teaching a variety of styles including Iyengar based Hatha, Flow yoga, AshtangaVinyasa, Yin yoga, and Bikram series. Her classes are centered on linking breath with movement so practitioners can learn to become present, cultivate patience, channel their energy, calm the mind and enjoy the art of a moving meditation.
Shara has a deep desire to share her deep knowledge and love of yoga, to help her students see their true potential, and to teach students that there are no limits in life other than those we mistakenly place on ourselves.
Shara’s educational background includes studies in General Science from Langara College, Studies at the Saunders school of Business, University of British Columbia, a Diploma of Nutrition, Diet and Health from Ashworth, a certificate of yoga therapy, and she is registered with Yoga Alliance USA at the E-RYT 500 level.
