My Philosophy: I believe that yoga is not just a very effective form of exercise, but your time on the mat is also a place where you can spend quality time with yourself. It is a mind-body exercise that can help you feel more empowered, strong, flexible, and at-home in your own body. Yoga also works on your emotional body to help release stress and other difficult emotions that get stored in your muscle tissue.

About Me: I began teaching with no training whatsoever at Bryce Canyon National park for staff members in 2002. I trained with Ana Forrest in 2005 in NYC for 220 hours over the span of 26 days, which was a very emotionally rich and physically demanding training. I studied with Shiva Rea for 300 hours in Venice Beach, CA to continue my training and I am always seeking more education to keep my practice alive. I have taught classes continually since 2005 and have over 1000 hours of teaching experience.

My Classes: You will find my Morning Energetic Yoga class challenging, vigorous and yet meditative. While I give lots of verbal instruction and hands on assists, in all my classes there are also periods of silence for inner reflection and times when I keep my hands-off to encourage you to find your own point of awareness and balance in the pose. While I like to point your awareness to your body, and to your intention, I keep my speech simple. During our final relaxation of savasana, which is a crucial part of every class, I will sometimes read a short poem. I close every class by chanting a single om, in keeping with the ancient practice of yoga.

Mission Statement

I believe that awareness heals and that being present for each other is the most important thing we can do. Whether it means being present for your husband or wife, child or friend, or in my case, for my yoga students on the mat, being truly available in this way helps people more than anything else can.

Emotions are stored in the body. Sometimes quite literally, in the case of abuse, but other times very subtly, like when we shrink back within ourselves because we feel insecure, drawing our shoulders up to our ears and our hearts back and caving in. This is the body responding to emotions. And emotions respond to the body. If you put yourself intentionally in that position you may start to feel depressed, scared, or lonely. By opening up the body through massage, yoga, or other bodywork, we can release these tensions, let the feelings come to the surface, process through them, and peel another layer of the onion away, to eventually reveal our true and shining selves.
