I'm not the most flexible person in the world but I certainly have gained flexibility and many other benefits as a result of my Yoga practice. I've been very fortunate to have had some very good teachers, who inspired me to become a teacher myself at the tender age of 49! 's a few years ago, in case you are counting.
I LOVE teaching Yoga Stretch at Raffa Yoga in Cranston, RI. Although I am a teacher, I will always be a student and enjoy many different styles of Yoga. I earned my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Credentials from YogaWorks in 2010 and am a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200). My training has included anatomy and physiology, Yoga philosophy, meditation, pranayama, the subtle body and the science of Ayurveda. My teaching style incorporates a blend of Yoga styles, which have come together to form a welcoming paradigm for students with various levels of experience.
I remember very well what it was like to be a (where does my foot go, what exactly does "Chatturanga" mean, they want me to do what??) As a result, I love teaching beginners. I have learned that a sense of humor combined with clear, precise and intuitive instruction will allow students to improve the fundamentals of their Yoga practice regardless of their level of experience.
I also believe in a regular home practice and my classes regularly include tips and advice regarding the development of a personalized home practice and the importance of incorporating the knowledge one learns by attending a regular program of group Yoga instruction.
You are never too old or too young to learn fabulous new things. Whether your Yoga experience includes “doing” Yoga at a gym, watching a dvd, practicing Yoga at a studio OR having never experienced Yoga at all, c'mon- take yourself to the next level and begin your Yoga practice. Come to class :)
