Stephen and YIN

The 1st time I "walked" into my first class with Stephen, I could barely walk. I had been the recipient of a slip and fall 'accident' 1.5 yrs prior, and had been unable to walk much, and when I did, it was with a serious limp.

He patience, persistence, knowledge and emphatic nature has been so consistent that here I am, 8 months later... and I can walk. Working with him these months has become nearly a 2nd religion to me. He has changed my life in ways that words fail to be able to explain. They say when the student, the teacher appears... however, I know I have been blessed with THE best yoga instructor. I will thank G-d all the rest of my days that he has come into my life. Thank you, thank you, and 1000 times more.... thank you Stephen Bison.

Worth Experiencing

I have truly enjoyed taking the Restore classes from Stephen. As a yoga neophyte, his ability to explain proper placement and alignment is invaluable. His classes showcase the care and effort he puts into each class. The message, music and movements are all wonderfully choreographed to help achieve a very satisfying calmness and strength in both mind and body. I fully encourage all to experience yoga with Stephen.

Calming, Centering, Caring Yoga

Stephan's classes always bring a positive and soothing tone to my practice. I take his Restorative class, and he has a wonderful way of distracting the mind to make holding the poses possible. His nuggets of wisdom on forgiveness, letting go, love, and growth always encourage me to be a better person.

Favorite Yin Teacher Ever!

I have taken Stephens yin classes on a regular basis for over a year. He is one of my favorites! The education and history he teaches in everything is a bonus, but the direction and feeling that he describes for poses is amazing. He speaks from the heart and hands down is the best at assisting and adjustments. The yin style of yoga is very therapeutic and I benefit from it greatly. I look forward to having Stephen guide me through my practice anytime.

Truly incredible restorative life changing experience

It is my great fortune to have found Stephen Bison. He is an inspirer who has given me a great gift through his Yoga teachings. At 56, I have been plagued by bursitis in my shoulder and tendonitis around my knee as well as lumbar disc injury. Through Stephen’s guided Yin practice, I have grown to understand my injuries and the movements that I can do to carefully and responsibly reduce my pain, while building flexibility and increasing my range of motion concentrating on fascia and connective tissue. I am just a neophyte, but the difference has been remarkable. The Yin method coupled with Stephan’s patience, caring, personal guidance and knowledge has yielded a truly incredible restorative life changing experience.

Impeccable Dedication

So grateful for Stephen. In order to truly "feel" and "absorb" yoga, one must truly turn inward -- one must use "breath" as your navigator. Stephen will guide you, inspire you to new heights, encourage you to breathe through the asana, to feel the pose in all of its splendor. His instruction will provide you with the "inward calling" of self to calm, to heal, to love, and to return for more. Stephen's guidance will leave you with the undeniable fact that "each breath truly is a gift." Yoga will bring you to this undeniable fact. Stephen's instruction will bring your mind, body, spirit, and soul to its core appreciation and gratitude.

Never disappointed . . .

I am not a morning person, however for over a year now, I regularly wake up to attend Stephen's 5:30 am vinyasa flow class. I leave the class and feel that I have cared for my mind, body, and soul. It is apparent that Stephen thoughtfully plans each class down to the right music, theme, and quotes. Stephen thoroughly understands the body's physiology and is able to explain and adjust in a way that helps you understand what yoga can do for your body. I love that Stephen adds a bit of yin after an exhilarating vinyasa flow. Stephen's passion for yoga illuminates in every class I have attended. My week is not complete without my Thursday morning class with Stephen.

Intentional and Experienced

Stephen regards his yoga students with highest esteem. He answers questions, addresses individual concerns, and is intentional with each and every class. As a licensed PhysIcal Therapist with over 300 hours of personal experience in a variety of yoga mediums, I can attest that Stephen has been the only teacher whom has addressed both the physiological basis for postures, as well as describing proper anatomical alignment.

Balanced, Healing, Inspiring

Stephen's yoga classes are uniquely moving. He has a way of calming and encouraging his students He uses his words and demonstrations to clearly articulate not only each yoga position, but also, the meaning, source, and impact of each movement and/or pose. Stephen's voice is reassuring, soothing, and genuine, full of kindness.

I go into Stephen's yin yoga classes knowing that I will leave with a new and different appreciation for my own body, my own abilities and inabilities, and where I'm at in my journey in life and in yoga...and with more cognizance in how that relates to the outside world. All of these things are more than desirable or expected from a yoga instructor...so the icing on the cake is that Stephen never fails to share with us quotes and stories that, to say the least, provide new food for impactful thought. His practice as a teacher is one I value greatly, as it touches the soul and the spirit in a way that is beyond authentic and genuine. I know with absolute certainty that the words he shares are more than sounds and syllables. They are carefully, purposefully chosen to gently propel and guide us as we go about our lives -outside of the studio and off the mat - until we are privileged enough to practice with him again.
