I came to yoga late in life, after doctors had told me I needed hip and knee-replacement surgery. I was in pain, overweight, and smoked heavily. My introduction to yoga was in a class taught at a gym, but I quickly sought out more experienced teachers. Within a few months I began his studies in Rishikesh, India at the Vinyasa Yoga Federation, home of Power Flows. Steve trained in classic Hatha, Vinyasa, Kundalini and Iyengar style yoga. After teaching for two years, I returned to Rishikesh to the Association for Yoga and Meditation. Yoga slowly brought me to places of awakenings, what was right in my life and what was not so right. Once I submitted to a daily practice I could see who I always wanted to be. My journey to yoga is reflected in my teaching — no judgment, kindness to oneself, graciousness and gratitude towards others, and self-empowerment. My favorite part of teaching is watching my students undergo the same process I did to gain strength, flexibility and self-confidence.
