Tamara has completed the Camyoga 200 hr teaching diploma, BMC Performer training, Naropa University Contemplative Teaching short course and has studied mindfulness practices, yoga, pilates and dance improvisation. Tamara was introduced to yoga through the ashtanga vinyasa tradition at Newcastle Buddhist Centre in 2005, and continues a daily self-practice in this method. Tamara is a dancer, who now leads the MA Dance Performance and Choreography programme at the University of Bedfordshire. In her dance practice, Tamara is a contact improvisation specialist, a partnering form that she performs, researches and teaches nationally and internationally. She brings principles from this inclusive form of dance practice to her yoga teaching. Following an SI joint injury sustained on a trapeze in 2009, she became interested in integrating mindfulness and somatic approaches to healing, injury recovery and injury prevention. Her teaching focuses on alignment of physical, spiritual, anatomical, energetic and community principles. She considers how yoga is relevant to diverse communities by cultivating inclusive, somatically informed approaches to practice that include meditation, developmental movement and gentle partnering approaches. Her goal is that everyone finds acceptance, space, healing and peace through the practices.
