Tammy began practicing yoga in Belleville, Illinois, in the early 2000s. Hooked from the beginning, she realized the benefits of this age-old practice, especially the benefits of building strength for her physical fitness test and relieving the stress associated with her job in the Air Force. After moving to Terre Haute, Indiana, she realized there was not a huge market for yoga and decided to pursue teaching. In 2011, she received her 200-hour teaching certificate from CITYOGA School of Yoga and Health in Indianapolis, under Nikki Myers and Marsha Pappas. In 2015, Tammy completed her 500-hour certification under renowned teacher Rolf Gates, also at CITYOGA. Tammy is interested in the therapeutic aspects of yoga. She has completed continuing education hours in yoga therapy, working with veterans who have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, vinyasa-style yoga, and yin yoga. She plans to pursue a yoga therapy certification/master’s degree and continue training in the healing aspects of yoga. She has taught at a number of places in Terre Haute over the last few years. Now retired from the Air Force, she recently opened her own yoga studio, Zen Cat Yoga, which is a dream come true!
