Tanaya Ti’en is a West Aussie born Mind-Body Wellness devotee. She is part yoga teacher ERYT500, part marriage celebrant, part writer, and most importantly, full time family gal.

Tanaya’s work is centred around the mind-body connection, and the psyche’s key role in illness, wellness, dis-ease, and the healing process. Her philosophy is born of a two decade love affair with Classical Yoga and the Chakras, being augmented with accreditations that include a BA in Performance Studies (VUT) and Dramatic Arts (VCA), and Master Trainer in Fitness and Exercise Physiology.

A Level 3 Senior Fitness Professional with Fitness Australia with over 25 years of study, research and experience in human movement, anatomy, and philosophy, Tanaya‘s journey into mind-body-heart science began in the 90’s during her training as an actor and performance writer at both the Victorian College of The Arts and Victorian University of Technology in Melbourne. It was there she first explored and researched the body’s ability to express and indeed, repress its truth.

Gaining insights into the mediums of the written word, movement and sound as powerful pathways to healing, Tanaya hit the mat and the books, and Yoga, music, Vedic philosophy & overall wellbeing became the cornerstones of her path ahead.

Tanaya’s classes, workshops, and events are an exploration into the ancient science of Classical Yoga, incorporating the chakras with a modern-day twist. Interwoven with poignant soundscapes, and hopefully, a thread or two of illumination, the movement aspect of each class offers an organic flow of hatha/vinyasa, laced with other physical disciplines including Tai Chi, Pilates, Feldenkrais, and Meridian Practice.

In 2015, Tanaya launched the Rock Your Chakras, Roll Your Yamas class series and workshops - an exploration into the Yamas & Niyamas, and how these age-old yogic virtues express in the body today. A byproduct of this exploration is the 2018 publication of the Rock Your Chakras, Roll Your Yamas Card Deck, and Toolbox for Life.

I have had some very big life changes in the last 3 months that have me questioning my purpose and who i am, I am usually a running, pump, attack kinda girl. Through this time i have really emotionally struggled and been so lost in many ways, questioning my identity, feeling purposeless and basically so disconnected from my emotional body (for 25 years) that i had no idea what i was doing.

I started to see a shamanic/tantric guide/teacher, and also started to attend yoga classes instead of the usual high intensity ones. Fatefully I attended one of your classes - week 6 out of 10 (Niyama/Purity. The energy of the mind is the essence of life) and i remember feeling so moved by everything you said, it was like i was supposed to be there because it reached inside me and really resonated. I felt enlightened, more pure and changed. After that, i have been coming to yoga as regularly (i came to a Tuesday class which i normally cant attend and you were concentrating on the heart chakra - and i really needed it that day) as i can, and i cant tell you how much it has given me. I feel an opening that i haven't felt before and an understanding, a deeper connection with life, people and purpose that i have been searching for semi- unconsciously, As i become more conscious (long way to go!), and consequently - every class of yours and every word i listen to that you speak, i fall even more in love with the connections yoga and the way you deliver it are making for me. It really inspires me, and with all the things i have learned about shamanism, tantra and philosophy of yoga (which Im yearning to learn more) sitting like puzzle pieces in organised chaos floating above my head, I feel each yoga class i do with you a piece of that puzzle floats down and finds a perfect place to fit in my heart.

I have been thinking about teaching yoga for a little while now, but saying things to myself like "I wont be good at it", "I'm not ready", "my balance is terrible", "I'm not strong enough", "who would want to listen to me". I've been working to really quieten that chatter in my head and teach myself to look within instead externally to fill my needs, self love and acceptance being a big one for me. 2 weeks ago, on a Monday at work, im not even sure why it popped into my head -or my heart, but i thought to myself, i want to teach yoga, and i want to touch peoples lives like you do, even if its just an hour, to get them to connect with themselves and give themselves the space to just be. To remind them they are perfectly imperfect and they are enough, and to honour themselves. My heart space physically warmed up and i was tingling all over my body, so much so i wanted to squeal with joy. I have not ever felt like that (that i can remember), and in this journey of listening to my body and what it is telling me, im pretty sure the joy i felt was telling me it was my path.

So here i am, looking for some guidance as to where i start, and how i can learn and live what you talk about and touch peoples lives with compassion, conviction, understanding, and guidance.

I hope this review conveys my gratitude to you for doing what you do, i hope other people tell you too, you speak to souls and that's really rare, and so special, and i cant thank you enough for helping me find some purpose to awaken and excite my soul.

I love Tanaya’s classes

Tanaya's classes are fabulous! Just the right mix of information and variety. I like the essential oils used as well. After each of her classes I feel revitalised and ready for the day ahead. Regarding her retreats... if anyone is seeking a unique Japanese experience, where you get to feel like a local, experience breathtaking countryside, eat amazing food, and feel centred via yoga then the Yakuno Japanese retreat with Tanaya is the retreat for you!

Exceptional yoga teacher

Tanaya is a wonderful and expienced yoga teacher. She explains the purpose
of each pose and reminds us of why we are practising yoga. I love her ability to speak so eloquently and sincerely that there are no coincidences in life and that we are all here (in class) for a higher purpose. This has been proven to be on many occasions in various classes. Tanaya is a very spiritual individual and I value her wisdom and experience in yoga practice.

Power Dating Yoga & Balance with Tanaya

Sessions with Tanaya are sensational, her guidance, charm and practice is something I haven’t witnessed anywhere else. I have intruduced my girlfriend to Yoga and we both couldn’t live with out it. After Tanaya’s sessions we always leave with the sense of inner peace. Thank you Tanaya ?♥️

Best yoga instructor!

I recently had a class with Tanaya and she is the best yoga instructor I have come across! She is awesome. Learnt a lot in just one class and really got a lot out of it! Physically, mentally etc. Time went really quickly. Will definitely be attending more! :)

Brilliant

I recently completed the beyond the asana course at mind body heart. I found myself looking forward to the class the whole week. Tanaya combined essential oils, setting intentions and yoga in a very transformative session. It was like a mini retreat in a yoga class. I absolutely loved it and benefitted in mind body and soul. Tanaya is a fabulous friendly and very knowledgeable teacher. Thanks so much for everything! Di x

Yoga class is Vitamin & booster for my body, mind & spirit

Always loving your class Tanaya, can't get enough of it, it's a must class for everyone in any level. Nice yoga music, modern yet calming too, great yoga poses & movement, very flowing. Great message given in any session along with your nice yet soothing voice perfect for us going through our hectic daily life. I love your sense of humor too thorough out the class. Last but not least, I love the smell of the aromatherapy during the class very relaxing & refreshing.

Tanaya provides a very friendly, funny and entertaining approach in challenging you to open up the doors of possibility. She always has a high energy and positively enjoys being a graceful host. I recently took part in a 10 week Yoga Flow Chakra Series with Tanya Ti'en. Tanya was great and created a very welcoming, safe environment. I am a beginner and was a bit weary of not being able to do it or get the benefit but the way Tanya is and teaches made me feel at ease and able to take part to the full extent. I would highly recommend Tanya and this course :-)

Get on the yoga groove train ?

Tanaya's classes are more than uplifting.....you find yourself soaring to heigher heights.....going beyond any limitations you may think you have. You go inside, you see your real self, you learn to nurture & love the you that you are. Acceptance is where you get to. The music, the moves, the energy in the room. Sometimes there are affirmations and they are just what you need that day. We are encouraged to a place of Gratitude...for all that we are, all that we can do and for each other. You feel yourself smiling from the inside. Change is guaranteed and beware, it's addictive....you can't wait until her next class and will not miss one if you get on her groove train. ???

Fun, Spiritual, Gangster

Tanaya brings an immense library of experience and knowledge to each of her classes. Is very easy going, relaxed, funny and down to earth. She is dedicated and very passionate about the practice but at the same time brings an element of fun into her classes, making them light-hearted yet providing participants with plenty of opportunity of profound self-discovery. I find her instruction clear, precise, calming and soothing - especially in the meditations. Most of all, she brings a spiritual gangster kind of dynamic into her classes, intertwining the physical, mental & spiritual practice of yoga with everyday life, allowing the participant to reflect, observe & contemplate the practice both on and off the mat.

Absolutely amazing

I have been attending Tanayas classes for 3 years now and have benefited both physically and spiritually. She is a holistic teacher and although I am an older participant feel at ease and well catered for. The classes assist with managing my arthritis meaning I have no need for anti inflammatory medication which is so beneficial for my over all well being. I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful teacher although Tanaya says we are our own best teachers ? Namaste

She knows her stuff!!

I have been blessed and completely spoilt in having Tanaya guide me on my yogi journey for the past 6 years. She has aided me through 2 healthy pregnancies prenatally and postnatally and definitely knows her stuff. Her classes kick your butt while taking you on an amazing spiritual journey. Literally cannot live without my Tuesday morning classes. She keeps my sanity.

Amazing & uplifting classes

I had the pleasure of meeting Tanaya & her attending her inspiring classes this summer. Tanaya has an original , spiritual & mindful approach to her classes which I liken to listening to & experiencing an opera. Tanaya's classes begin with bringing focus to the breathe & intention and move naturally into the crescendo of the energetic climax of the class, whereby one doesn't even realize the strength or difficulty of the asanas she has the class flowing through. A truly enjoyable & "feel good" class which has challenged my practice ? I can't recommend Tanaya enough !! Forever grateful ?

While staying in Perth I had the opportunity to join Tanaya's yoga classes. Her way of teaching combined with wonderful music was an amazing experience for me.

Love Tanya's classes!

Tanaya has a fab personality! She always takes care to meet students before and after the class! Beginners/people with injuries are made feel welcome and comfortable to experiement with positions to find what feels right for their body. If you are more expeienced the classes provide lots of challenges! It's always a relaxing experience, her genuine are for her yoga students and fun personality always shine through!

Tan Ti'en - Queen of yogis

Tanaya is an amazing yogi, who deeply cares about her students, and strives to ensure everyone has a positive experience in her classes. She is innovative and fun, meaning there's never a dull moment! As someone who has done very little yoga, I always felt comfortable and was never out of my depth, as everything was explained well, and options were given for those with less yoga experience. I definitely recommend anyone to take a class with Tanaya, and I guarantee you will love it!
