I began my yoga journey looking to try a new unaware I would discover something I never realized I was searching for. Yoga has been and continues to be extremely healing and awakening. It has taught me patience, discipline and self-awareness. I've learned the importance of connecting to the breath and living in the present moment. Practicing yoga & living it!
My life would be forever changed in 2011 when I met my friend and teacher Maria Yakkey. She teaches yoga in a very particular way that I was instantly drawn to. Teaching for a purpose! Maria inspired my desire to teach yoga and to share what she's taught me with others. I became an RYT 200 In 2014 and I'm honored to be part of the Satya Yoga Shala teaching family.
My classes are open to all levels and tailored to the students needs. I teach based on Iyengar's principles of yoga using props (provided by the studio) to help with alignment and allowing students the ability to modify or intensify poses for their them to make choices for themselves. I incorporate yoga philosophy and things I've learned on my like The 8 Limbs, Compassion and teachings from Guru's who have inspired me. I encourage students to ask questions and learn. My hopes are that yoga will touch others lives in some of the same ways it has my own.
In addition to teaching at Satya Yoga Shala, I assist Maria Yakkey in the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program. I am a member of the Long Island Yoga Association. I also work for a financial institution where I write a daily blog and teach yoga to the corporate community as well as private groups.
