Willamarie is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT), health coach, writer, art educator, and nature lover. She brings decades of teaching and coaching experience to the yoga studio.

She teaches regular classes, occasional special workshops, and private sessions tailored to individual students’ needs and goals.

Willamarie's yoga training and ongoing professional development includes: Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training with Patricia Walden and Peentz Dubble in Cambridge, MA; periodic trips to Pune, India to study with the Iyengars; and continuing education with senior Iyengar Yoga teachers across the on a regular basis. She is also a dedicated student of yoga philosophy, Sanskrit, and Vedic chanting.

Students over the years have expressed appreciation for the way that Willamarie structures her asana classes around an anatomical theme paired with an appropriate philosophical theme. Each class focuses on specific actions; the poses are linked together in a methodical progression during which Willamarie asks students to bring their attention to particular areas of the body and to observe with curiosity and equanimity as they strive to stretch both body and mind. Her sequences are designed to be accessible to all — safe for beginners and an invitation for more experienced students to dive ever deeper in their poses.

Willamarie is an outstanding and unforgettable yoga teacher. She was one of my first teachers when I began a yoga practice three years ago and I would still be happily studying with her had she not moved to New Mexico.

In Willamarie's classes, I truly felt like she was helping me realign my body from the ground up in a fundamental way. It seems bizarre to say this as an adult, but Willamarie taught me how to stand!


Willamarie teaches with a rigor that challenges students to approach their limits, but she is a keen and sensitive observer and never pushes to injury or exhaustion. She is able to adjust instruction for students at varying levels in the same class.

Willamarie's classes are exquisitely planned. She'll design sequences to focus on a particular group of poses, a particular part of the body, or lead up to a challenging pose that students might not have thought they could do at the beginning of class and find themselves doing at the end of class!

Willamarie's demonstrations are beautiful and inspiring. She infuses her classes with teaching from yoga philosophy and a gentle sense of humor.

One of the Best

Iyengar Yoga is my practice of choice because of the attention to proper alignment. This is where Willamarie truly excels. I normally attend Level 2 classes but when Willamarie is teaching a Level 1, I am there because I always learn something new. Her classes are excellently structured, she is exceptionally attentive to each student, making necessary corrections and adjustments, her instructions are clear and concise and she exudes a very knowledgeable, warm and caring approach and attitude. She is most definitely one of the finest instructors I have ever experienced.

an iyengar teacher for all

Willamarie is a fine yoga teacher. She is well prepared for class. When taking a class with Willamarie be prepared for a good hard workout using every conceivable prop under the sun. Every class I have taken with her has been different and interesting. To top it off, she has a keen sense of humor. Five stars all the way.

A very special teacher

Willamarie brings a sense of joy, happiness, and light to her classes. She is very attentive to the individual needs of each student. Her vast knowledge of yoga and her thoughtful teaching approach make the practice accessible to everyone, regardless of the student's level. Her instructions are clear and concise. I often feel a renewed sense of encouragement and optimism about my own practice after attending Willamarie's class.
