Hatha-yoga is a form of yoga that consists of a system of asana's in order to obtain control over the mind and the body.
Asana "is not only an integral part of the hatha-yoga, but also constitutes the third step on the eightfold element (ashtanga yoga) from Patanjali's Yogasoetra's. The other seven steps are: yama, niyama, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi.
Yoga helps the practicioner to relax by concentrating the mind on inhaling and exhaling in order to obtain control over the mind and the body, in the process to self-realization.
