Boat Pose

Navasana, or Boat Pose, is a seated posture where the body is brought into a V shape by balancing entirely on the buttocks. The name of the pose comes from the Sanskrit words nava: 'boat' and asana: 'posture'. Navasana is a posture that engages the core muscles and strengthens the abs, legs, and the back (especially the lower back). This posture (like most yoga poses) has different variations, including Ardha Navasana (half boat), in which the hands come to rest behind the head.
