Scorpion Pose

Scorpion Pose is an advanced inversion and arm-balance. This pose provides a deep backbend, and has several variation such as Scorpion Handstand. Scorpion requires great shoulder and arms strength, and a good preparation for this posture is Forearm Stand. Scorpion Pose promotes flexibility of the spine, stretches the front of the body, and improves focus and balance. In very advanced variation of the pose, the feet can rest on the head. The Sanskrit name of the pose, Vrschikasana, comes from vrschika: 'scorpion', and asana: 'posture'.
