Side Angle Pose

Side Angle Pose (or Extended Side Angle Pose) is a standing posture that stretches and strengthens the legs, core muscles, hips, and hamstrings. It opens the shoulders, and improves balance. Variations of this pose include Revolved Side Angle Pose, and Bound Side Angle Pose. The Sanskrit name of the pose, Uttita Parsvottanasana, comes from utthita: 'extended', parsva: 'side', kona: 'angle', and asana: 'posture'.
