Tree Pose

Tree Pose is a standing balancing pose that strengthens the legs, ankles, and feet. It improves focus, and increases flexibility in the hips and knees. Tree Pose is appropriate to all levels of practice and is a good preparation for more advanced balancing poses. The main thing to watch out for in this pose is to avoid placing the foot directly on the knee. The Sanskrit name of the pose, Vrkasana, comes from vrka: 'tree', and asana: 'posture'.
